Our 60-minute Gymgirls classes are age-based and have a low student/teacher ratio. They are designed to build a strong gymnastics foundation, enabling students to naturally progress their skills. These classes focus on basic gymnastics progressions using bars, beams, and vaults. Gymgirls classes are centered around vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercises, focusing on women’s artistic gymnastics. Gymgirls will enhance students’ physical development and self-esteem while keeping them challenged.
What skills you will learn?
- Master foundational skills like kick to handstand flatback, pullover, casts, cartwheel, and bridge kickover
- Develop beam skills including lever, walks on high beam, handstands, and dismounts
- Advance on bars with chin-up pullovers, cast back hip circles, sole circle dismounts, and squat-ons
- Build tumbling power with round-offs, back handsprings, front handsprings, and straight-arm backward rolls
Frequently asked questions
Gymgirls classes start with a cardio warm-up and conditioning. After that, students rotate through 2–4 stations that change every two weeks, working on skills, events, and gymnastics progressions.
Every child, regardless of gymnastics experience, can attend a class at Planet Gymnastics and thrive in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Classes are age-based. Children should be enrolled in the class that corresponds to their age.
Please ensure all children are appropriately dressed for class. Baggy or inappropriate clothing presents a safety risk and may prevent participation. Children not dressed in accordance with dress code requirements will not be permitted to participate.
Approved Attire: Leotards or non-baggy t-shirts, shorts, sweatpants, exercise pants, or leggings. Bare feet are required in the gym at all times.
Prohibited Attire: Socks (bare feet required), jeans, corduroys, overalls, or any clothing with buckles, belt loops, or zippers. Footed tights are not permitted.
Jewelry is not permitted with the exception of stud earrings. Long hair must be secured in a ponytail. Complimentary hair ties are available at the front office.
Classes are age-based. As your child grows, they will transition to the appropriate next age-level class. If your child is ready for an instructor-recommended class, their instructor will request an evaluation.
