A 50 minute class with a low student/teacher ratio with repetitive basics to build a strong foundation. Basic gymnastics progressions on bars, beams, vault, tumbling, and trampoline will be the focus. Safety training, body position, strength, and flexibility will all be emphasized. The benefit of this class will be enhanced physical development while experiencing a good feeling about oneself.

Gym Girls 3 (ages 11 and up)

A 50 minute class that will help build strength, flexibility and confidence. Exclusively for 11 years and up, Gym Girls 3 is geared to both the beginner and intermediate gymnast. Following our regular Gym Girls curriculum, this class is perfect for older girls looking to experience all that the sport of gymnastics can offer.

A 50 minute class harnesses an athlete’s energy into safe, fun, and productive exercise. These classes will be designed for experience on all types of apparatus in the gym. Coordination, balance, strength, and flexibility all will be emphasized while learning basic gymnastics skills. The benefit of this class will be enhanced physical development that can be carried over to many other physical activities and sports.

Ninja Warriors (ages 7 – 10)

A 50 minute class that allows older ninjas who are just starting to gain a basis of the primary skills before advancing to a more challenging class. We introduce the concept of fluidity and how to connect various skills within obstacle courses. There is a strong focus on developing the basics of landing correctly, rolling, vaulting, and body control in both classes. The goal is for our Ninja Warriors to build a strong foundation of fundamental skills to prepare them for the next level.

Extreme Ninja Warriors (ages 10 and up)

A 50 minute class that challenges our advanced ninjas with more complex skills courses and moves at a faster pace.Ninjas explore different ways to create skill combinations while maintaining a continuous movement. There is also a stronger focus on mastering flips. Ninjas will travel through obstacles with mind-blowing fluidity!

Developmental 2 (girls ages 7 – 8 with at least 1 year in Developmental 1)

A 1.25 hour Invite Only class for girls ages 7 – 8 who are motivated to learn and are willing to work hard to progress in strength, flexibility and gymnastics skills. Extra time is spent on strength conditioning and due to the dynamics of the class, skill progressions are accelerated. The longer class time allows students more time to work on drills and advance their skills. Super Gym Girls (girls ages 8+)

A 1.25 hour Invite Only class for girls  who are motivated to learn and are willing to work hard to progress in strength and flexibility, as well as gymnastics skills. Extra time is spent on strength conditioning and due to the dynamics of the class, skill progressions are accelerated. Students have more time to work on drills, which gives them a better understanding of each skill, as well as more time to perfect each skill. Developmental (boys ages 7+)

A 60 minute Invite Only class for boys who are motivated to learn and are willing to work hard to progress in strength and flexibility as well as gymnastics skills. Shining Stars (ages 5 and up)

This 40 minute parent participation class provides kids the opportunity to develop through movement education, which includes fine motor and gross motor skills and basic gymnastics.  This class is designed for children both physical and mental special needs.  Each student will have the opportunity to develop physically, socially, and emotionally through a noncompetitive environment.  Skills are taught in small increments, building one skill on another.  Lesson plans are carefully modified to provide a safe and enjoyable experience.  Activities include but not limited to gymnastics, trampoline, fitness, core strength, and sport skills. 

Class Structure A small class with up to 4 students.  The instructor will call the students into the gym.  The first 10 min. will be “warm-up.”  Next, students will participate in 3 to 4 stations (about 8 minutes per station).  At each station, students are required to sit while the instructor explains the directions. 

Instructors Role Provide a safe and structured environment while instructing student through the lesson.  The instructor will demonstrate each skill and provide modification to create challenges for students. 

Parent Role

Stay within arm’s length of your child

Assist and encourage your child throughout each station

Spot child as directed by the instructor

Parents are not allowed on the gymnastics equipment

The Benefits

Specialized equipment at our gym provides participants with the opportunities to explore and achieve physical successes on their own and with others. Our gymnastics facility provides many opportunities for children to utilize and expand their sensory functions including vision, hearing, tactile sensation, gravity, body position, and movement. These activities can help a child improve their academics, behaviors, and health.

About the Director

Gary Camire started working at Planet Gymnastics in 2007.  Currently, Gary is the Operational Manager and teaches students ages 2-15.  He has over ten years of teaching Adapted Physical Education.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Maine, Orono in Kinesiology and Physical Education. He specialized in Developmental Disabilities. He has worked closely with professionals to create goals through IEPs to meet the needs of his students. He has an extensive background in behavioral modification. Gary is USAG Safety Certified and holds American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Certification.
